London Trip.. Nick Knight Exhibition!!

we went to somerset house in london to see this exhibition, it was really good, there were so many different things to see and so many different designers wwork on show. we also got to see Nick Knight at work doing a photoshoot, it was really cool to see him at work as he is one of my favourite photographers. i ws really impressed by all the work that was there to see!

we had a talk from peclairs today, it was really interesting and i learned alot from it, the woman gave us lots of information. it was really good to see how they come up with different trends and how different companies and designers work from these ideas and creare thier collections.

This week we started our melting pot project, i wasnt really sure what to do but in the end I chose to do it about Irish culture but in a more intresting way.Im focasing on the theme of Irish pixies andd fairies. I have loads of ideas for it. Im looking forward to seeing what its going to be like when its finished!!

London Trip!!

our trip to London was really good i was really looking forward to going around all the fabric shops, even though some of them were a bit snooby I got loads of really nice fabric. we also got to have a quick look around the V&A, there was some realy interesting stuff in the fashion section, and in the other areas aswell an i think it would be very useful for inspiration for projects...

Week 3!

This week we started our communitcating vision in black and white projects, this was really fun and i really enjoyed researching different ideas and tring out different techniques i hadnt used before. On thursday we had pattern cutting although it was a really intense day and at times i got a little confused i feel im getting the hang of it a bit more and understand it all alot more...
For construction friday we started making our bodices this was really exciting to see something come together it went really well and Iv defiantly inproved on the week before sowing!!
Overall it was a very busy week, but i can defiantly say iv learned alot..

First week!!!!

I was really looking forward to starting this week especially getting started on the pattern cutting and construction!! But firstly we had to show our holiday projects on monday this was a bit scary as we had to look at everyones project and critique them according to we thought, and had to witness people critiquing our own projects. Although it was fun looking at everyone else's, and it gave us a really good insight into other peoples backgrounds. The IT induction proved interesting as I was really nervous about using IT as i thought that I wasn't going to be very good but it proved out to be not as difficult as i thought.

Induction Week

This was our first week at the AUCB, i had just arrived from Ireland the day before, so i found the whole week extremely useful as i knew little about the AUCB and therefore it was a great way for me to get to know my peers and the facilities that were now available to me as a student here. In this week i had the opportunity to mingle with the rest of the people on my course and this was really interesting s they all had such varied creative backgrounds. The thursday was our trip to the local beach, this was a real adventure and a great way to bond as a group even though we ended up walking the length of Ireland! And we saw some of Bournemouth's less desirable attractions!! I enjoyed the activities as we got to share opinions as a group!
